While it’s no surprise that China’s emerging economy and power has boosted the oversea sales in the luxury market, China has no idea where or how luxury houses began. According to research firm, Bain & Co., Chanel is the second most desired brand after Louis Vuitton. The fashion house hopes to claim the top prize with “Culture Chanel,” an exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Shanghai that runs through March 14. The exhibition will feature 400 pieces ranging from apparel to accessories to designs by Mademoiselle Coco Chanel herself. The show will move to Beijing in October, but those lucky enough to study abroad in China this semester should take the opportunity to see the exhibit.
